A Testimony to Starting the Conversation

For me, (Rose J.) this once would have been a very unpleasant/unwanted discussion to approach. However, since losing my leg and all of it complications, I have given serious thought to what my wishes will be in the future regarding my medical choices. There is an important document you can complete called an “Advance Directive”. It especially makes known and enforces, what you want done for your care in the event you cannot speak for yourself. The program, “Start the Conversation” really assists you as you begin to decide, clarify and communicate what is important to you in the face of serious illness. Believe me, I know that it is difficult to ponder such things in advance. However, I also know that it’s not when serious illness does come into your life to start to discuss your wishes with family and physicians.
